JISD honors scholarship, award recipients

With no senior award assembly, Jacksboro ISD took time to recognize graduates for their accomplishments during its graduation ceremony.

Jacksboro High School principal Starla Sanders announced the award winners and scholarship recipients while allowing them to have a moment of recognition before moving to the next.

Those recognized for the presidential education award which required an overall 90 or high GPA for the duration of high school, scoring able the 85% mark on state standardized testing and a score of a 24 on the ACT or 1100 on the SAT test were Hallie Hackley, Elizabeth Hines, Seth Isbell, Kyler Kenvin, Andi Longoria, Haley Milam and Baylee Thompson.

“The UIL scholar award is presented to the top 10% of the graduating class who participated in UIL academic, music or athletic contests,” Sanders said. “We want to honor those students whose academics and extracurricular achievements have been exemplary. (…) As I call your name please stand to be recognized: Hailee Frie, Hallie Hackley, Elizabeth Hines, Haley Milam, Estefania Piedra, Carli Smith and Baylee Thompson.”

Milam and Kaleb Swan were also recognized for perfect attendance throughout their high school career.
