Callan dock dedication set for Jan. 4
Plans for the dedication of the Johnny Callan Memorial Dock at Lake Jacksboro are underway and Callan’s mom, Kerri LeDoux said the event will be all that Johnny hoped for.
“He wanted it big and to have the fireworks and a cook-out and all these things and we told him, ‘We’re not going to be able to do all that.’ So it’s great that we’re going to get to do what he wanted,” LeDoux said.
The event will celebrate Johnny Callan’s hard work in fundraising and organization for the dock’s construction, his community project as one of 10 Texas FFA Ford Leadership Scholars.
The dedication is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 4 at Lake Jacksboro with speakers from the city and the Jacksboro High School ag department with Eugene Weldon leading a prayer. Fireworks will begin at 6 p.m. with smores and fellowship to follow. All in the community are invited to take part in the festivities.
