Hospital seeks local photographs

The Faith Community Hospital Charitable Foundation has announced a second special project to help decorate many of the hospital’s walls.

Now until April 3, the FCH Charitable Foundation is asking local photographers, both amateurs and professionals alike, to submit their original work for consideration. Winning submissions will be enlarged and displayed throughout the hospital with all the beautiful artwork previously submitted. 

Local attorney honored by bar association

David Spiller of the law firm of Spiller & Spiller in Jacksboro has been elected to membership in the Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation.  Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation are selected for their outstanding professional achievements and their demonstrated commitment to the improvement of the justice system through the State of Texas.  Election is a mark of distinction and recognition of Mr. Spiller’s contributions to the legal profession.

CASA 101 coming up Monday

CASA of Wise and Jack Counties will host a CASA 101 information session from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Monday at the CASA office, 300 E. Pecan St., Decatur.

The session will share what it means to be a CASA or Court Appointed Special Advocate in Jack County. CASA 101 is an informal, Q&A-style get-together and will allow visitors to meet current CASA volunteers, learn about the application process and find out how to help end the cycle of abuse.

CASA is starting 2017 with new programs with the hopes of making a lasting impact in the lives of children in CPS custody.

Old Jacksboro firehall to see new life

Jacksboro will soon see a new restaurant on the square. Tuesday, the Jacksboro Economic Development Corporation announced it entered into an agreement with Neri’s on the Square to open a Jacksboro location in the old firehouse at 111 E. Archer St.

Neri and Jonathan Gonzalez have owned and operated their restaurant, Neri’s on the Square in Graham for 7 years. In looking to open a second location, they found Jacksboro to be the perfect fit.

JISD educator receives recognition

Terri Stretcher, a member of Lambda Rho chapter of The Texas State Organization of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, has been selected to attend the 2017 Leadership Seminar held in Frisco at the Sheraton Stonebriar Hotel, February 17-19, 2017. Women are selected for this seminar who exhibit potential for leadership in their classrooms, their communities and the world. Only 30 women are selected every 2 years for this training.

Rabbit exhibitors show in Fort Worth

Jack County youth rabbit exhibitors placed at the Fort Worth Stock Show February 3 and 4. A total of 30 rabbits were shown by 10 Jack County students. More than 1,300 rabbits were exhibited over the two-day period by Texas youth.

Jack County 4-H member Elizabeth Hines placed first and best opposite sex of breed with her junior black tortoise Lionhead buck. She placed first with her senior lynx buck Palomino and senior lynx doe Palomino. Hines placed second with her New Zealand intermediate black buck.
