There are a lot of events coming up over the next week. If you're looking for something to do, here's what's going on.

Oct. 26-27

FUMC Garage Sale

First United Methodist Church will host its annual garage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. The church will also hold a prize drawing for a Walmart gift card and an Amazon gift card. Call the church office for information on tickets. 940-567-6341.

Saturday, Oct. 27

Trunk or Treat

Fort Richardson State Park will host a Trunk or Treat from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at the park. The Friends of the Fort will award prizes for the best decorated campsite and best Jack-O-Lantern. Walk to park in costume and gather treats. At dark, stroll the historic grounds looking for ghosts, goblins and the dearly departed until 8 p.m. Bring a flashlight.

Bryson Fall Carnival

Bryson ISD will host a Fall Carnival from 6-9 p.m. at the school. 

 

Oct. 26-27

Fort Belknap Days

The fourth annual Historic Fort Belknap Days will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 at Fort Belknap, 114 Fort Cir, Newcastle. Friday will host area schools with Saturday welcoming all visitors to come see living historians, cannons, more military periods represented and a ladies tea social at 3 p.m. A Lipan Apache gentleman will be available to speak on the Native American perspective. An author of a series of historical fiction books about the Butterfield Trail will be on hand selling her books. Friday night, the fort will host a period dance from 7-9 p.m. followed by a night shoot of the cannon at 9:15. The public is invited to take part in a fun evening with called dances and waltzes performed by Time Was. 

Wednesday, Oct. 31

JES Trunk or Treat

Jacksboro Elementary School will host a trunk or treat from 5-6 p.m. in the school parking lot.

Fall Fest

The 4th annual Fall Fest will take place from 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31 at the vacant lot on the corner of 12th and College streets. The fest offers a family event with food, fun and games and is sponsored by Jacksboro churches, EMS, fire department, police department and Jack County STOMP.

Oct. 31-Nov. 2

Pack the Pickup

The Jacksboro Lions Club will host its Pack the Pickup Food Drive from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at Lowe’s Market, 503 N. Main St. The Lions, with the help of Lowe’s and Four Stars Ford, will be accepting donations of nonperishable food to be given to the Jacksboro Community Food Pantry to help with its monthly distribution.

Saturday, Nov. 3

Chamber Chilifest and Outdoor Expo

The Jacksboro Chamber Chilifest and Outdoor Expo will be from 4-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Jack County Ag Barn and Outdoor Pavilion. There will be a chili cook-off along with vendors and more to kick off the deer hunting season. For more information, call 940-567-2602.

Battle For Fort Richardson

Fort Richardson State Park will host the Battle For Fort Richardson event 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3 at the park. Reenactors will perform continuous living history demonstrations, including infantry, cavalry and artillery drills, as well as battle re-enactments. There will also be medical demonstrations, camp life, civilian life, period sutlers and a period church service on Sunday. There will also be concessions available.
