Perrin to celebrate the start of summer Saturday

    The Perrin Summer Kickoff event will feature a car show, 5K run, games for kids, food trucks and more.

Looking for something to do this weekend? The community of Perrin will host its Summer Kickoff Saturday courtesy of the Perrin Community Improvement and Crime Watch.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. with a 5K run, followed at approximately 8:45 with a 1K fun run.

The cost for registration for the 5K is $25 which includes a T-shirt and $15 for the 1K. Awards and plaques will go to standout runners.

Also at the event will be a car show from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a live auction starting at 1 p.m.

Organizer Kenny Salazar said there are more than 20 vendors slated to on hand at the event including 2 Outlaws Barbecue from Weatherford. 

There will also be lots of fun to be had including inflatable slides and games for kids.

Salazar said the location for the Summer Kickoff was changed due to the rain. It will now be held in the parking lot of the Perrin School at 216 N. Benson St.

Later Saturday evening, there will be a dance from 8 to 11 featuring a live band.
