Home health agency launches community food drive

Sat, 08/13/2016 - 3:24 pm

Staff members from the Kindred at Home office blanket the community throughout August, distributing food collection bags and gathering donations for the Jacksboro Community Food Pantry as part of the company’s 12th Annual Food Drive.

Employees at the Kindred at Home Jacksboro office and their fellow employees around the country – part of the Kindred at Home family of home healthcare – are placing the food collection bags at various health care facilities in their respective communities and will collect their “harvest” during the entire month of August. They are focused on beating their tally from last year, when the company’s 11th Annual Food Drive yielded more than 838,000 pounds of goods for donation to charitable organizations across the country.

“Engaged home health providers are plugged into their community’s resources. That makes us aware of the fact that food banks, pantries, and other charitable organizations face increasing demands for assistance,” said Eva Miller, RN, Jacksboro Branch Director. “Because we share the goal of a healthier community with area businesses, we think they are ideal partners as sites for food collection, and we encourage area businesses and health care providers to contact us for more information on how they and their employees can participate in this community effort.”

Donations may be dropped off at Lowe’s Market, Jacksboro National Bank, Legacy Texas Bank, Bank of Jacksboro, Faith Community Hospital and the Kindred at Home office. The food bank has requested the following items: Tuna and Hamburger Helper, jelly, canned soups and pasta with meat like chicken noodle, ravioli, etc., crackers, canned vegetables and fruit, cereal and Pop Tarts, canned chicken and dumplings, beef stew, pasta, dry beans, rice, and canned spaghetti sauce with meat.

Kindred at Home provides skilled nursing, physical and occupational therapies and related services to residents of Jacksboro and Jack County.
