FCH sees new birth record

Wed, 09/07/2016 - 6:51 pm

It was a full house at Faith Community Hospital over the August 12-15 weekend, when three babies were born within 24 hours. In fact, five babies were born in the hospital in only four days—a record for FCH. The parents of these children took advantage of the maternity services at the new FCH facility, which provides a comfortable experience for young families.

Since May 28, 2013, 135 babies have been born at FCH, with 16 born this summer alone. Before that, it had been more than 27 years since a baby had been born at the hospital. Frank L. Beaman, CEO of FCH, congratulated the new families, one of which was his new grandson, and said that the births over the weekend showed the value of the improved maternity services at the new hospital.

“We are thrilled that parents can welcome the newest members of their families into the world right here in Jack County at our new hospital,” Beaman said. “As our community continues to grow, we are working to continue meeting their needs here at the hospital.”

Ben and Kristin McKay, who gave birth to a son, said they were very impressed with the new hospital.

“Faith was a great place to have our son,” said Ben McKay. “The Dr. was awesome and the nurses were courteous, kind, and always available.”

The hospital began offering maternity services again in 2013 and now boasts a team of three board-certified family physicians who deliver babies, in addition to a specially trained nursing staff.

“It is so important that new parents have the option to give birth in a professional, welcoming environment here in Jack County,” said Assistant CNO, Leslie Hawkins, RN BSN, “The ability to give birth near home is a huge relief for young families, and we couldn’t be more proud to offer this service.”

FCH is preparing to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the opening of its replacement facility, which opened to the public on September 21, 2015. The new hospital complex offers expanded medical services to residents of Jack County, including private maternity suites and a spacious waiting room for families.
