Bowie woman enters top quilt in Busy Bee show

    Julie Browning’s entry “Sassy Chickens” was selected Best of Show for the Busy Bee Quilt Show hosted last Friday and Saturday in Post Oak. Browning pieced the quilt which was machine quilted by a friend.

    Laura Panko, of Graham, had the winning ticket for the prize drawing for this Amish friendship quilt.

Last week, quilters and quilt enthusiasts from at least six counties visited the community of Post Oak for the Busy Bee Quilt Show held September 28 and 29. More than 50 quilts shown by 26 people from Bowie, Jacksboro, Blue Grove, Henrietta, Montague, Bridgeport, Graham and Wichita Falls were displayed at the Post Oak Community Center.

Ribbons and prizes were given to 1st and 2nd place winners and the Best of Show winner. They were:

Best of Show: “Sassy Chicken Quilt”, Julie Browning, Bowie, TX

1st place large quilt: “Sham on You” by Robbie Ashley, Montague, TX

2nd place large quilt: “Fancy Forest” by Frances Easter, Jacksboro, TX

1st place small quilt: “Clothes Line” by Glenda Shepherd, Blue Grove, TX

2nd place small quilt: “Dream Big” by K Watkins, Bridgeport, TX

Members Challenge 1st place: “Spring Thru the Window” by Nelda Hopkins, Jacksboro, TX

Members Challenge 2nd place: “Spring in Bloom” by Bonnie Youngblood, Weatherford, TX

Members Challenge 3rd place: “April Flower” by Clydene Webb, Jacksboro, TX

Winning ticket for the “Amish Friendship Quilt” by  Laura Panko, Graham, TX
