In its final pre-district tuneup, the Tigerettes took on a tough Class 4A foe in the Graham Lady Blues and suffered a 12-25, 15-25, 19-25 setback at home.
The Tigerettes showed hustle and determination at times, but a solid Lady Blues’ front court would prove to be too much for Jacksboro. The hostesses led for the first and only time as Lily Perez rolled off three points, including an ace for a 3-0 lead.

It’s not always the quarterbacks and running backs who are the difference makers in a football game. Sometimes it’s the kickers and the defensive linemen.
Such was the case in the waning minutes of Friday’s Jacksboro home opener with Boyd. Boyd’s Dakota Barrow had a fumble bounce into his hands and rumbled 51 yards to the end zone with it to break a 21-all tie. The extra point try failed with 6:44 left.
The Perrin Lady Pirates volleyball team, ranked No. 5 in Class A by the Texas Girls Coaches Association, kept rolling down the highway Thursday, Aug. 30.
Perrin upped its record to 12-5 with a 25-15, 25-12, 25-22 win over Mineral Wells Community Christian. Lady Pirate’s coach Rebekah Bland said momentum reared its ugly head in game three.
“I thought our hitting was on in the first two games but was definitely off in the third,” Bland said. “We had played our game in the first two games but got away from the way we play in the third.”
A new tradition started last week as Jacksboro High School football players worked with their dads and/or guardians on putting decals on their helmets for the new Decals with Dads bonding event.
