Throughout the early portion of Jacksboro’s volleyball schedule, the spirit and intensity of players has been up and down like a rollercoaster. A discussion of that was had on the way back from a tournament in Graham Saturday.
Tuesday night in its home opener vs. Iowa Park, the girls came out ready to go from the start. It carried for the entire match, but the visiting Lady Hawks had a little too much in the tank and posted a closer than it looked 25-21, 25-20, 27-25 victory over the Tigerettes.
Despite the setback, Coach Brenda Doyal was pleased with the effort against the Class 4A squad.
“We talked about being ready to play when we hit the floor,” Doyal said. “It’s something we have to do and we definitely did tonight, despite the loss.”
The Lady Hawks were a good matchup for the Tigerettes, an aggressive team that let nothing hit the floor which kept Jacksboro on its toes throughout the 70-minute match.
