Jacksboro’s varsity volleyballers had a rough weekend in a 20-teamtournament here, finishing fifth in the Silver bracket.

The Tigerettes opened play Friday with pool play vs. Wichita Falls Hirschi, Wichita Falls Notre Dame, district foe Henrietta and defending Class A state finalist Windthorst, who wound up winning the tournament. The girls finished fourth out of the five teams in their pool, moving them into the silver or consolation bracket.

Coach Brenda Doyal was less than thrilled with her squad’s performance Friday.
Things got better on Saturday as the squad went 2-1 in bracket play. The squad won its first match Saturday, beating district opponent WF City View to move into the bracket semifinals where the squad lost to Class 4A Vernon before beating another district foe Boyd in their last match of the day.

The Tigerettes remain on the road this week, starting with a dual match tonight vs. Archer City. The Lady Cats are a solid group in the eyes of Doyal, who saw them in a scrimmage recently.
