D.J. Thomas earned four gold medals and Kirk Weldon continued his dominance of throwing events as the Jacksboro Tiger track team finished second at the Jacksboro Tiger Invitational meet held last Thursday.
Weldon won the discus with a throw of 161’ 6/12”. Weldon also won the shot put with a throw of 51’3”. Thomas placed first in the long jump with a jump of 20’ 5 3/4”.
Thomas took the gold in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.2. He placed first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.9. The 1000 meter relay team composed of Thomas, Daniel Mabbit, Jacob Bridges and David Stretcher took the gold medal. Thomas also earned a fifth place in the high jump.
Bridges won the gold medal in the 800 meter run. The 800 meter relay team comprised of Colton Massengale, Zach Montgomery, Mabbit and Caleb Martin placed second. Mabbit won the high jump with a jump of 6’2”. He also placed fifth in the long jump while Stretcher earned the silver medal with a jump of 20’ 2”.
Stretcher earned a fourth place finish in the triple jump and finished fifth in the 200 meter dash as well.
The Tigerettes finished fourth in the field of eleven teams in the meet. The 400 meter relay team comprised of Olivia Roberts, Kelsey Laake, Kalea Maples and Madison Swor finished sixth. Jessica Lamerson earned the silver medal in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:30. Lacy Lane finished fourth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.30.
The 800 meter relay team composed of Roberts, Laake, Maples and Yridia Delgado finished fourth. Lamberson ran a 1,05.70 in the 400 meters to earn the gold medal in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 51.20. Lane also won a bronze medal in the high jump with a jump of 4’10”.
The gold medal in the long jump went to Lane as she jumped 16’. Ashley Cox placed sixth in the shot put. Maples placed fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.60. The mile relay team of Lane, Laake, Swor and Lamberson finished in fourth place.
In junior varsity competition Cody Rhoades placed second in the discus and fifth in the shot put. Angela Bonor placed fourth in the shot put. The 400 meter relay team of Missy Cooley, Brenna Little, Ashleigh Irwin and Dianna Tinajero finished in second place. Moriana Vela finished sixth in the 800 meter run. Rhoades placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles and Angela Boner was fifth in the same race.
The JV girls 800 meter relay placed second. The relay team consisted of Cooley, Tinajero, Arely Monsivais and Little.
The track team will travel to Bowie Thursday for their final meet before district. The district meet will be held at Jacksboro. Preliminary heats take place Monday April 7 and finals are Thursday.
