Jesse Herd led a group of six Tigers at the State Power lifting Meet by placing third and setting personal bests in all three lifts. Herd finished with a total of 1,365 pounds. Head Coach Joel Hood was understandably proud of Jesse.
“Jesse was so focused and driven to achieve this award. He recorded personal bests in all three lifts, but none of them were unexpected. We knew he was very capable of achieving these lifts,” Hood said.
E.J. Lozada also stood out at the meet as he was awarded the $1,000 Texas High School Power lifters Association Scholarship. The award can be used at the college of E.J.’s choice. Lozada finished in ninth place in the 220 pound class with a total lift of 1435 pounds.
Seth Rogers placed seventh in the 181 pound class with a total lift of 1345 pounds. Zach Montgomery placed eighth in the 132 pound class with a total lift of 980 pounds. Austin Hansen placed tenth in the 220 pound class with a total lift of 1410 pounds.
Coach Hood was extremely pleased with his team’s effort.
“I am so proud to have been able to work with these young men,” he said. “Their success is a direct result of their dedication. They can proudly wear the label of the greatest power lifting team in the history of Jacksboro High School.”
