Austin Hansen, Jesse Herd, E.J. Lozada, Zach Montgomery, Seth Rogers and Kirk Weldon each qualified for the State Powerlifting Meet as the Tigers blew away the competition to win the Region 6 Division 3 Powerlifting Championship.
The competition was held Saturday at Ponder. The Tigers finished the meet with 35 points, which is the most points ever scored by a team at the regional meet.
Coach Joel Hood was very proud of the work done by his team.
“This was an amazing performance by a dedicated and driven group of young men,” said Hood. “Each one has been committed to rising above the mediocre by outworking the competition. Having seven medalists, six state qualifiers and 35 total points is unprecedented at the regional meet.”
All six state qualifiers are seniors and will be looking to bring home more honors as the Tiger Powerlifters will compete at the state meet in Abilene March 22.
