After a shaky start, the Jacksboro Tiger baseball team re-grouped and fought back before dropping their opening game of the season to the Eastland Mavericks 8-5.
After going down in order in the top of the first inning, the Mavericks scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and threatened to blow the game completely open as they loaded the bases with two outs.
The Tigers scored their first runs of the season in the fourth inning.
A potential rally for the Tigers ended in the fifth inning when a runner was thrown out at third base and the Mavericks extended their lead to 8-2 by scoring twice in the bottom of the fifth.
The Tigers weren’t finished though as they scored three runs to pull to within 8-5.
The Tigers will play in the Peaster, Brock, Jacksboro tournament this weekend. The Tigers will host Electra Thursday at 5 p.m., Vernon Friday at 5 p.m. and will travel to Brock to play Alvord Saturday morning.
