Postseason honors continue to roll in for the Jacksboro Tiger football team.
Coming off a year that saw the Tigers win their first district championship in 10 years, four Tigers were named as honorable mention members of the Texas Sportswriters Association All State team
Bubba Johnson was named as an honorable mention all state defensive lineman. Johnson had 102 tackles for the Tigers this year. He also had a forced fumble, six quarterback sacks and six quarterback pressures.
D.J. Thomas was named to the honorable mention team at running back. Thomas finished the year with 1,406 yards rushing and twenty touchdowns.
Kirk Weldon was named an honorable mention all state linebacker. Weldon finished the season with 58 tackles, a quarterback sack and a quarterback pressure.
David Stretcher was also named to the all state team as an honorable mention defensive back. Stretcher finished the season with 34 tackles and seven interceptions.
Also, seniors Triston Montgomery and Jesse Herd were recently named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All State Football Team.
In order to be considered for the Academic All state team, a player must be a senior of high moral character with a cumulative Grade Point Average of 92.
Montgomery finished the year with 23 tackles and a pass breakup. Herd had 44 tackles and two quarterback sacks for the Tigers.
Both players were key contributors to the Tigers first district championship in 10 years.
