Of concern to all citizens is the survival of our country and God's Word says in Psalm 33:12, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord."
That concern and belief brought well over a hundred people out in Jack County, to attend the three events Thursday, May 3, for the National Day of Prayer.
Several others had stories about gathering together in their offices or workplaces to pray, since they couldn't leave work. Some attended out of town events because that is where they were.
We want to express our appreciation to the clergy of this county for stepping up to the task at hand. Several ministers lead prayers at the events, donated to finance the events, and/or participated in the National Day of Prayer Sunday as well as prayed for the success of the gatherings. We thank you for joining together to pray for our country!
Mayor James and Mayor Birdwell, we thank you for your "hands on" support and your encouraging remarks throughout the planning period. Thank you, Judge Davenport, for the Proclamations establishing the official "day."
Our appreciation goes out to the VFW Post for donating a flag to the Perrin Volunteer Fire Department in preparation for the NDOP event there and to the VFD for allowing us to hold it on their property; to the City of Bryson for use of the park; and to Ken and Becky Swan who graciously allowed us to use the Main Street Bistro Courtyard for the Jacksboro event.
Since God works through prayer, a big thank-you goes to "we, the people" who participated in the events or prayed where they were. God told Solomon in 2 Chronicles 7 that if His people would seek him in humility, quit sinning and pray, then He would hear their prayers, forgive their sins and heal their land, and since God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, there is no reason to think that His Word would not be effective today. It is all about God and His people!
Also, Pam, the support of the newspaper and staff were invaluable to the success of these events. Thank you.
Please continue to pray for our country and its leaders.
God bless you all!
