Busy Bees to hold quilt drawing to raise funds for repairs

In and Around Post Oak

This will be the final reminder: The 2016 Busy Bee Quilt Show in Post Oak has been canceled due to building repairs. We are sad to think of the old Methodist Church building not having quilts hanging on the walls for people to view and enjoy the beauty and talent of quilts and quilters.

This is the first year since 1978 we haven’t had a quilt show. Hopefully in September 2017 we can have another quilt show. I will keep you posted so this will give everyone plenty of time to make quilts to once again display at Post Oak.

Those attending quilting on last Thursday were: Clydene Webb, Gena Phillips, Billie Jo Godfrey, Nelda Hopkins, Eunice Frost, Nancy Conner, Helga Cross and Wanda Davis. We completed the quilting on The Lone Star and once we have the binding sewn on we can start selling tickets so a lucky someone can become the owner of The Lone Star Quilt. The proceeds will go to help repair the building and prepare for the 2017 quilt show.

Elsie Graham will have an exciting story to tell us when she returns from her trip to Washington D.C. We know she has had an good time and enjoyed visiting her son. We have missed her at our regular Thursday quiltings.

Nancy and Gary Conner met in Wichita Falls with their camping group last weekend.

I visited Sheila in Bowie over the weekend and we visited with Rosemary Cooper on Sunday evening.

The Post Oak area had a few rain showers this week. I’ve heard the coyotes calling to one another several nights. I think the rainy weather makes their howl seem more lonesome than when it is dry and hot.

I’m beginning to see the hunters around their deer camps. It is time for them to get their camps fixed up for hunting season as it will soon be here.

Thought for the week: Remember with your friends and neighbors as the smallest good deed is better than the grandest intentions. Have a good week.
