Animals on the move in Post Oak

Fri, 10/21/2016 - 4:20 pm
In and Around Post Oak

Fall is here with winter just around the corner. The leaves have fallen off some of the trees in my yard and the weeds and cockle burs are in their seed stage.

There are burs everywhere. The wild turkey are gobbling and calling their mates and telling them to be careful the hunters will be out soon. The skunks are traveling outside and around the house at night. There has been one on the front porch two or three nights last week. I do not like to have them so close because they have strong perfume.

The wild hogs have rooted the cemetery making the ground look as though it has been plowed. I’ve heard the coyotes across the road and my cats are disappearing so the cats must have become supper for the coyotes.

Thursday, those meeting to quilt at the community center were; Nancy Conner, Nelda Hopkins, Eunice Frost, Wanda Davis and Helga Cross. We had a good lunch and enjoyed the day.

We have the donation Lone Star quilt completed, in fact Nancy completed the hem on Thursday. We appreciate all the work Nancy has done machine piecing the Lone Star pattern,  helping us do the hand quilting, and doing the finishing work by binding and hemming. Nancy has spent many hours and done a beautiful job.

In spite of the ceiling falling in the Community Center and construction starting on the roof, we are still meeting in The Community Center and quilting from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m. on Thursdays.  We would like to invite anyone interested to come and join us to quilt and if you don’t know how we will show you.  We all bring a covered dish and share lunch.  We hope to see you there.

Sunday, Ruby Deweber was honored by relatives and friends on her 90th birthday.  The party was in the Methodist Church Community Room in Henrietta. Ruby, we wish you a Happy Birthday and may God bless you.

Thought for the week- Love is the thing that enables a woman to sing while she mops the floor after her husband walks across it in his barn boots. Have a good week.
