Tom Loftin, age 75, went to meet his Lord and Savior May 16, 2016.  

Tom was born February 17, 1941 to Lee and Lelia Calvin Loftin in Loving, Texas. He attended school in Loving and Graham, graduating from Graham High School in 1958. On June 5, 1969, he married Patricia Ann Long, the love of his life. 

After graduation with a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Education degrees from North Texas State University, he taught school in Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto, and McKinney. From 1970 to 1984, Tom worked as a vocation area consultant for the Texas Education Agency serving schools in 48 counties in North and Northeast Texas. From 1984 until his retirement from his education career, he served as assistant superintendent for Gainesville. After his retirement from Gainesville, he served as principal for Henrietta and superintendent for Megargel. Tom also taught various college courses at North Texas State University and at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls. Tom supervised student teachers for Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls.

Tom and Pat were longtime owners and operators of the Double Bar Ranch. Part of the ranch is a recognized Texas Century Ranch, having been in the same family for over 100 years. They received the 2006 Outstanding Cooperator Award presented by the Noble Foundation. 

Tom was a licensed Real Estate Broker specializing in sales of farms and ranches. Tom served for many years on the Brazos Telephone Board of Directors and as president of the Markley Cemetery Association. He was very active in his church, Memorial Christian Church of Jacksboro, serving as church treasurer, deacon, and parish council member for several years.

Tom is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” of Windthorst; two daughters, Alison Hale and her husband Randy of Fort Worth, and Sherry King and her husband Cavin of Lindsay. He is also survived by two very special granddaughters, Logan and Lindsey King of Lindsay; a special cousin who seems like a son, Chuck Calvin and his wife Barbara of Olney; sister-in-law Jan Johnson and her husband Scott of Collinsville and two nephews Scotty Johnson and his wife Kelli and Ross Johnson and his wife Kim, all of Seminole.

Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016, at Memorial Christian Church in Jacksboro. Private family burial will be in Markley Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Morrison Funeral Home in Graham, TX.

In lieu of flowers, Tom’s family suggests Markley Cemetery Association or Memorial Christian Church Building Fund for memorial donations, as both were very special to him during his life.
