Dorothy LaNell Hudson

Dorothy LaNell Hudson was born on November 20, 1946 to William Orville and Lillie Bell (DeShane) Long, Sr. in Jacksboro, Texas.  She may have lost her short battle with liver cancer but she raced into the arms of Jesus on Friday, January 6, 2017 in Cedar Hill, Texas. She was 70 years old.

LaNell married Otis Wayne Hudson on June 21, 1963 in Jacksboro, Texas. She was a homemaker and was known for her beautiful flower arrangements as well as her ability to produce wonderful homemade pies and pumpkin rolls.  LaNell was a faithful member and worker of the Assembly of God for 50 years.  She was a woman of faith, love and compassion and was known as “Grana” to a host of family and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, William Orville Long Jr.; two infant sisters; son-in-law Edward Schmalzried III; and daughter-in-law Pamela Hudson. 

Among those that will cherish her memory include her children Devin Hudson and wife Tish of Midlothian, Texas and Kristi Schmalzried of Bridgeport, Texas; sister Faye Amburn and husband Kenneth of Bowie; grandchildren Dustin Hudson and wife Tiffany; Madison Jones; Jordan Hudson and wife Korie; Tiffany Moore and husband Wayne and Parker Jones; great-grandchildren Aubrie, Makaayla, Malachi, and Elliot; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Services were Wednesday, January 11th at First Assembly of God Church in Jacksboro with burial following in Truce Cemetery.
