John “ Jack” Barry III of Jacksboro, Texas was born September 3, 1941 to John and Irene (Argabright) Barry in Archer City, Texas. He passed away Sunday July 27, 2014. He was 74 years old.

Jack served his country proudly in the US Army. He married Helen McCoy in South Miami Heights, Florida in 1964. Jack was a lifelong resident of Jack County working 26 years as a field supervisor for Halliburton and as a rancher. He was very active in the community. He was a member of the Jack County Sheriff’s Posse, Jack County Taxpayer Committee, First Baptist Church attending Bible Baptist Church in later years, Antelope Cemetery Association, American Legion, the Jacksboro Country Club and became Santa yearly for Jacksboro National Bank’s annual pictures for the children of Jack County. He was a very loving brother, father and grandfather. Jack was a friend to all.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen and his brothers Fred and Lace Barry
Among the many who will miss him dearly include his children Waymon D. Barry of Karnes City, Texas; Helen I. “ HI”  Barry of Graford, Texas; John Barry IV  of Antelope, Texas; and Shirley Elizabeth Barry and husband Eric of Denton, Texas; sisters Shirley Ruth Dye and husband Doyle of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Frances Kay Hardin and husband Walter of Wichita Falls, Texas; and Beverly McCoy and husband Dr. Eddie McCoy of Dallas, Texas; longtime, devoted and loving companion, Ann Kimbrough of Jacksboro; five grandchildren, John Barry V, Race Barry, Jackson Barry, Brandon Casey Portele and Julianna Barry; eight nieces and nephews and many other extended family members and friends.


Visitation was Wednesday, July 30 at Coker Funeral Home.

Funeral services were Thursday, July 31 at First Baptist Church with burial following in Antelope Cemetery.
