James Doyle Conway was born Feb. 6, 1925, in Jack County, to Clifford L. and Lillie Lee (Smith) Conway. He passed away at his home in Jacksboro, Saturday, September 28, 2013. He was 88 years old. Doyle was a proud World War II Navy Veteran receiving the Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal (3 stars). He married LaVerne Rhoades May 25, 1947, under a shade tree in Jack County. Doyle was retired from W.R. Grace Petroleum Company where he was a supervisor. He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Among those who will cherish his sweet memory include his wife LaVerne of Jacksboro; his three children Pat Brown and husband Shorty of Jacksboro, Jim Conway and wife Jennifer of Little Elm, and Ken Conway and wife Ludy of Freer; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members and friends. There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at Roberts Branch Cemetery in Jack County, with Coker Funeral Home handling arrangements.
