Jacksboro goes high-tech with SchoolMessinger (Thursday, January 28, 2010)

Jacksboro Independent School District is going high-tech with a new information service.
Beginning Monday, Feb. 1, SchoolMessenger will provide notification services for parental outreach, emergency broadcasts, student attendance alerts and other communications for education.
Although the system is able to automatically call parents for a variety of reasons that impact the safety and academic performance of students, SchoolMessenger will not replace current modes of school communication, but will be used to complement the district’s community outreach efforts and emergency preparedness procedures.
Acquisition of this system is intended to reinforce the district’s commitment to remain personally connected to parents. Principals will remain accessible for live visits, and paper-based memoranda will continue to be sent home.

SchoolMessenger will begin making attendance calls for Jacksboro ISD on Feb. 1.
