Ice is nice Friday, July 30, 2010 Editor

Members of the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce gather at the coolest spot in town – Lone Star Ice, owned and operated by Tony and Cindy Dean and Kerry and Becky Hargrove. On hand for the ribbon cutting are, from left, Chamber Manager Brenda Tarpley, David Rater, Alan Thomas, Tony Dean, Cindy Dean, Chamber President Wes McCurry, Blain Rumage and Ed Rumage. With four locations already opened in Wichita Falls, owners are sure that business here will be steady. Lone Star Ice offers 16-pound bags of filtered crushed ice or a 20-pound block for $1.75. Bring your own container and get water by the gallon or five-gallons at a time. The water is filtered and the location easy to fill an ice chest or other container. Coins and bills can be used in the vending machine; but, a bonus program for commercial interests allows a token system at a cost of $1.75 each up to 100. Purchasing 100-299 tokens makes the cost only $1.50 each and purchasing 300 or more tokens brings the price to only $1.25 per token. At present, the location takes cash and tokens only. Soon, the vending apparatus will accommodate debit and credit card purchases. Lone Star Ice ise located at 417 N. Main St. and open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For token information, call (940) 567-1528. (Photo by Jana Lynn Rupe)
