Pauline Flowers Cook passed away Wednesday July 14, 2010, at her home in Jacksboro, Texas. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 17, at First Baptist Church in Jacksboro with Rev. Brian McPherson officiating. Interment folllowed at Oakwood Cemetery, under the direction of Coker Funeral Home in Jacksboro.
Pauline was born on March 16, 1920, in Dallas, Texas. She was a graduate of Jacksboro High School and attended Texas Women’s University where she received her B.A. in English. She taught school in Falfurrias and Sweetwater. She married James McDonald Cook on June 11, 1943. Pauline was well known for her kindness and hospitality. Her door was always open. Many people, including family, friends and kids of all ages have enjoyed a wonderful meal from her kitchen. She nourished not only the body but also the heart and soul.
Pauline is preceded in death by her father H.H. Flowers and mother Bertha (Castleberry) Flowers, brother H.H. “Buddy” Flowers, Jr., her son Lee Flowers Cook and son-in-law John R. Williams. Survivors include her daughter Paula Williams of Jacksboro, a son, James H. Cook and wife Karen of San Antonio, daughter-in-law Robin Cook of Brenham; grandchildren Heath Cook of Jacksboro, Courtney Holm and husband Nelson of Fort Worth, Caroline Maxwell and husband Wyatt of Dallas, Cathleen Cook of Fort Worth and her fiancé Ryan Redus and Mallory Williams of College Station; and great-grandchildren Addison Cook of Bowie and Hudson and Eleanor Holm of Fort Worth.
