Middle school Tigerettes shine at district

The Jacksboro Middle School Tigerettes competed April 8 at the District 6-2A track meet in Millsap.
The seventh-graders came home with 75 points, two gold medals and a third-place overall finish.
Lanna Plaster grabbed the gold in shot put, while Olivia Roberts leapt to a first-place finish in high jump.

Plaster scored second in discus, Megan Harris third and Katelin Bailey sixth.
Harris came in fifth in shot put, while Scarlett Bowen was sixth in triple jump and Shalin Simmons grabbed sixth in high jump.
In running events, Cayley Strickland earned bronze in the 2,400-meter run and sixth in the 1,600-meter.
Tori Aydelott came in fourth and Bowen sixth in the 800-meter run. Roberts was fifth in the 100-meter dash, Harris sixth in the 200-meter dash and Aydelott sixth in the 300-meter hurdles.
In relay events, Simmons, Emilee Florance, Ashley Lane and Bowen earned bronze in the 4x400; Harris, Florance, Lane and Roberts crossed the line in fifth in the 4x100-meter; and Florance, Bowen, Lane and Roberts teamed up for fifth in the 4x200,

The eighth-graders finished in sixth place overall.
In field events, Lindsay Murphy placed fifth in shot put, Lilly Brock was sixth in discus and Kelsey Laake came in sixth in triple jump.
On the track, Laake earned bronze in the 800-meter run, while Urvi Patel came in fifth.
Taylor Eberle claimed sixth in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.
Laake grabbed silver in the 1,600-meter run, while Murphy, Patel, Brock and Laake teamed up for second place in the 4x400-meter relay.
“These young ladies did a great job of competing and several ended up getting their best times, throws and jumps in their event,” said Coach Lisa Richardson. “It was a great way to end their season. Great job!”
