Billy Bruns, 88, of Jacksboro died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009, in Mineral Wells. Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at DFW National Cemetery with Joel Scott officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Coker Funeral Home. Mr. Bruns was born July 2, 1921, in Elenda, Kan., to the late Fredrick Ross and Bernice Maxine (Small) Bruns. He married Evelyn Inez Buford Aug. 17, 1978, Houston. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Jacksboro and Mineral Wells and a member of the American Legion of Mineral Wells. He was a crossing guard for Jacksboro ISD and a member of Live Oak Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Bruns of Jacksboro; two daughters, Joan Lindsey and husband J.W. of Jacksboro and Sally Brennan and husband Tom of Georgetown; two sons, John C. Hensley Jr. and wife Paula of Lake of the Pines and Pete Hensley of Santa Anna; a sister, Marilyn Drake and husband Eddie of Derby Kansas; 10 grandchildren, Sally, Wes, Kevin, Scott, Jenny, Tarrah, John, Richard, Shawn and Thelma; and six great-grandchildren.
