About 4:30 p.m., Thursday, a call came in to Jack County dispatch that an abandoned car with all four doors open was seen in the dry part of Bridgeport Lake on the Wizard Wells side about 1/2 mile from Greenhelm Road.
Jack County Sheriff deputies arrived to find a woman about 150 yards from the car who was unconscious, but still breathing. Jacksboro emergency responders transported her to Faith Community Hospital, but she died.
Judge Mitchell Davenport ordered the body of Janie Fowler, 66, of Bridgeport, be sent to Fort Worth for an autopsy to determine cause of death. He said there were no abrasions or marks on the body.
Sheriff Melvin Mayo said he believes the report will show a medical cause of death and there was nothing at the scene to indicate foul play.
