Wednesday afternoon, a 2001 Dodge one-ton pickup tried to bump an 18-wheeler up the hill between Farm/Market 1156 and Joplin First Baptist Church on Highway 199, both vehicles traveling west. It didn't work. According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Shannon Mauney, the water hauler with Basic Energy in Jacksboro had just turned onto Highway 199 and was traveling west up the hill at about 40 mph, when the Greco Services pickup of Graham, came over the hill at an unsafe rate of speed, and possibly due to inattention, saw the truck too late, tried to dodge and struck the rear left corner, blew a tire, bounced off the truck's front set of tires and careened into the eastbound ditch. No one was injured. Traffic was slowed, but not stopped.
