Deadlines for the TNT Fest activities are fast approaching. Most of the forms are due in their respective organizations by Friday. The TNT Fest is set for June 29 and the organizers, including Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce and City of Jacksboro, have been asking if non-profit organizations want to sponsor a game, contest or booth. Many have stepped forward and there are lots of events planned. If you want to participate in those events, get your entry forms turned in right away. Some events planned include Jamie Richards Band performing, fireworks display, a carnival, 3 on 3 basketball tournament, benefitting Jacksboro Little Dribblers; 42 Tournament, benefitting Jack County Museum; baseball tournament, benefitting Jacksboro Little League; Dog Beauty, Dog Talent and Pet Photo Contests, benefitting Friends of Jack County Animal Shelter; Dunking Booth, benefitting Cub Scout Pack 119; Fishing Tournament, benefitting Shriners; Homemade Ice Cream Crank-Off, benefitting Jack County Museum; Cool Kid Contest and Horseshoe Tournament, benefitting Big Brothers, Big Sisters; Laser Tag, benefitting Jacksboro Purple Pride Band; Miss Jacksboro TNT Pageant, benefitting Faith Community Hospital Foundation; Red, White & Blue Rollin' Parade, sponsored by Jack County Child Welfare Board; Super Sprint Triathlon, benefitting Friends of Fort Richardson; bounce houses, water slides, canoe races, cardboard boat races, carnival, horse drawn carriage rides, monster trucks and pony rides.


Look for ads telling you about these events and the deadlines to enter. Already we know that the Miss TNT Scholarship Pageant will be at 6 p.m., June 29. Contestants must be entering their Freshman year of high school as of the date of the pageant or must have graduated in May. Scoring is determined by community service, grades, onstage question and stage presence. The deadline for entering this event is Monday, June 24 at 5 p.m. You can register for the pageant online at or call (940) 229-8251 or (940) 216-2285. There are forms in the lobby at Faith Community Hospital. The registration fee is $20, but the return for your investment is the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship. If you're an ice cream maker, you can be known as the best with a $10 entry fee and presentation of your ice cream to the baseball concession stand by 1 p.m. June 29. The Cool Kids Contest will replace the Baby Beautiful Contest and you can get registration forms at Big Brothers Big Sisters office next to the Main Street Bistro, or call (940) 567-2112. The Friends of the Animal Shelter will photograph your pet, judge your pet or your pet's photo and let you bid on several items in a silent auction. The items are already on display in the banks.
