Congratulations

Braydee Thorne of Bryson won the Market Steer portion of the Jack County Livestock Show. Several hundred youth took part in animal showing, creative arts and ag mechanics.

Rylan Chalmers won for Meat Pen Rabbit at the Jack County Livestock Show. Chalmers is a senior at Jacksboro High School.

 

Billy Oliver birthday

Billy Oliver, born on November 23, 1930, celebrated his 90th birthday last week. He spent 4 years in the Navy serving on a destroyer as part of the Tin Can Sailors. Mr. Oliver served in the Korean War and was part of the crew that bombarded the shores before the country was divided into North and South Korea. He was married to Nancy Andrew for 50 years until she passed away. He is a wonderful father and grandfather. He was one of the first of the community to be baptized in the new First Baptist Church building. Billy was diag nosed with COVID on November 20 and has been doing great. ChiliFest and Car show

Things are heating up at the Jacksboro Chamber of Commerce as they prepare to kick off deer season and their hunting industry with the 2020 Chamber Chilifest & Classic Car Show.

The event will be held on the Historic Jacksboro Downtown Square Saturday, Nov. 14th, from 4

– 8 pm. It will include a cookoff for the best chili and fixings, vendor booths for shopping, and close out with live entertainment and dancing from area favorite and upcoming country artist Matt Wayne.

Prizes include $250 and a cutting board for 1st place, $200 for 2nd place, $150 for

District Governor speaks to Lions

Jacksboro Lions Club is one the of the best in District 2 in recruiting, the district governor told members at the club’s regular Oct. 14 meeting.

Christina Schoonover said the club had six new members since July, which ties Stephenville for No. 1. Districtwide, 29 people became new Lions Club members. More than 1.3 million people are Lions members in 210 countries.
