Faith Community Hospital is pleased to unveil a sculpture by a local artist in the hospital’s new mammography suite. The sculpture, which depicts a woman in a bed of flowers, is the work of Loren Jones, an artist from Jacksboro.

This work is the latest addition to a number of photographs taken by residents of Jack County that were recently put on display in the newly built FCH hospital building, which opened its doors nearly a year ago.

“We are proud to have a local artist in addition to all the local photography that adorns the hospital hallways,” said Frank Beaman, the CEO of FCH. “This artwork provides a level of elegance to the hospital.”

A local connection and a trick of fate brought Jones’s sculpture to the facility. Almost 2 1/2 years ago, Beaman was having his hair cut by Jones’s mother, Wanda, at Classic Cuts when she began telling him about her son’s passion for artwork and sculpture design. After sharing pictures of some of her son’s work, it soon became clear that Loren’s sculpture would be a perfect fit to accompany the art in the mammography suite.

“We are blessed to have Loren’s one-of-a-kind artwork in the FCH mammography suite,” Beaman said.

The FCH Charitable Foundation purchased the sculpture, which is now displayed on the wall of the mammography suite. The mammography unit, which was installed as part of the new hospital, is a permanent area that provides digital mammography services year round here in Jack County. The mammography unit was acquired in part through a state grant received by the hospital. This service helps medical professionals more easily detect breast cancer, the second-leading cause of cancer deaths among Texas women

FCH is preparing to celebrate the first-year anniversary of the new hospital complex, which opened to the public on September 21, 2015. The new complex offers expanded medical services, including digital mammography, to residents of Jack County.
