Storms swept through the area Friday producing high winds and leaving about 700 electric customers without power. The power for much of the western part of Jacksboro was knocked out due to several damaged power poles.
Gordon Drake, Oncor area manager, said straight line winds between 3:30 and 4 p.m. Friday caused the outage.
“We lost some poles and we had a safety device that operated due to a pole that the wind took down near the substation,” Drake said.
As of 9:15 p.m. Friday night, most customers’ power had been restored, with about 30 remaining and Oncor crews still out working.
