For School Board Appreciation Month, student council members served the board members a barbecue dinner. The students waited on the trustees and a table was covered with cards of thanks for the board's volunteer service to its community.
Following the meal, the board discussed facility use agreements. Previously, the school charged a $100 deposit for non-profit organizations headquartered within the school district and a $100 deposit and $200 fee for other groups.
The board opted to reword the facility agreement as follows, “The fees may be waived at the superintendent's discretion for local student oriented youth activities.”
Stout presented the board with information regarding UIL realignment and reclassification concerning school athletic, academic and one act play competitions.
Football and basketball alignments will be released Feb. 3 to begin next school year and run for two years.
Stout also reported that for the upcoming May 10 school board election places three, four and five currently represented by Hauger, Mike Brooks and Lynn Casteel are up for re-election. The dates for candidate filing for a place on the ballot are Jan. 29 through Feb. 28.
