At Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Jacksboro Independent School District’s board of trustees, citizens attended the meeting to go before the board concerning a level three grievance.

Trustees entered into a closed executive session to confer with JES Principal Angie Myrick before asking the approximately dozen Spanish-speaking residents of the district into the session.

After hearing from the complainants, the board continued the session which in total lasted nearly 40 minutes before re-opening the meeting for a vote on the matter.

The group, whose members declined comment regarding the nature of the issue, watched as the board unanimously voted to uphold the level two decision denying the appeal.

Also at the meeting, Kenneth Savell of Birdwell and Quinn reported a clean audit for the district.

Curriculum Director Diana White presented the Texas Academic Performance Report. She said all campuses met the standard for academic performance. The high school received the distinction designations for academic achievement in reading / English language arts and math.
