North Texas roads have thick layers of ice on them after a hard freeze last night.

According to a press release, Interstate 20 in Parker and Palo Pinto counties is especially iced over with four to six inches of solid ice covering the road.

TxDOT crews are working to clear the roadways in the 16 counties in the area affected by the storm. In the TxDOT Dallas and Fort Worth districts, there have been 600 employees working since before the storm hit North Texas. Freezing temperatures will continue throughout the day with roadway conditions not expected to improve until possibly tomorrow, dependent on weather.

TxDOT crews will continue working around the clock throughout this major winter weather event providing salt and sand for traction at bridges and trouble spots.
