An investigation is underway involving possible theft at city hall.
Mayor Lewis James offered a statement at Tuesday’s city council meeting concerning City Finance Director Erika Hobson.
James said that in recent months, the Jacksboro Police Department received information which required them to request an investigation by the Texas Rangers and investigators with the district attorney’s office.
“The information led to a criminal investigation into the possiblity of theft by a public servant and the investigation was turned over to the Texas Rangers,” said James.
He added that the investigation is ongoing and continues to be conducted by DPS and the DA’s office.
Further, Hobson was placed on adminstrative leave Wednesday, Nov. 6 pending the results of the investigation but subsequently resigned.
Police Chief Terry McDaniel said the investigation began in late summer.
