Joe Edward White and Linda Mae Cagle were united in matrimony Sept. 21, 1963, at the Olden Baptist Church in Olden.
Joe is the son of J.D. and Jo Marie White and was raised in Cisco. Linda is the daughter of Jarl and Mary Lee Cagle and was raised in Olden.
It was truly love at first sight, and they were married after meeting on a blind date. Linda didn't know she was marrying a man of honor who would dedicate his life to serving his country, state and family.
Joe enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving heroically in Vietnam. Joe was awarded a variety of medals for his service including two Purple Hearts for injuries sustained during combat.

Upon completion of his deployment, Joe and Linda were stationed at Camp Pendleton outside of San Diego, Calif., where they added Misty Dawn White-Sherrod to their family, the first of their three children.
Completing their service to their country, Joe and Linda dedicated their lives to serving the people of the great state of Texas.
Joe entered into service with the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Trooper in State Highway Patrol, being stationed in El Paso, Midland, Austin, Fabiens, Fort Hancock, Sweetwater, Spring, and Huntsville, adding two sons, Joe E. White (Joey) and Casey Lynn White (Bear), along the way.
Joe was promoted to the License/Weight division and moved to Jacksboro, where they have made their home. They are active members of the Jacksboro First United Methodist Church.
Joe retired after 30 years as a Trooper with Texas Department of Public Safety and was bestowed as an honorary Texas Ranger.
Joe served as Chief of Police in Runaway Bay.
He served on the Jacksboro Independent School District School Board of Trustees for 10 years, five of those years as Chairman of the Board.
Joe was awarded the 1985 Citizen of the Year honor and is currently self-employed with Joe White Trucking.
Linda also chose a path of service, retiring from JISD after 27 years of helping the Jacksboro community.
Linda initially served as the "Band Aide" and was a very active member of the Band Boosters.
She later served as the secretary for the Jacksboro Learning Center, dedicating her time to the growth and education of the community's youth.
Linda served as an active member of the Jack County Child Welfare Board as an initial member and held the office of Secretary for the Jacksboro ISD Chapter of the Association of Texas Professional Educators.
Joe and Linda loved and dedicated their life to their three children: Misty and husband Mitchell Sherrod of Jacksboro; Joe White and wife Lisa Gillette of Alexandria, Va., and Casey and wife Morgan White of Lake Bridgeport.
They have seven grandchildren and one on the way: Brittany and Josh Norvill; Darby Sherrod; Andrew White; Sadie White; C.J. White; Slade White and Allie White.
Friends and relatives are invited to come and celebrate with Joe and Linda from 1 - 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
