The second annual Jacksboro Outboard Shootout, hosted by Lone Star Outboard Racing Association is set for this Saturday and Sunday on Lake Jacksboro. Outboard hydroplanes will be competing in a series of heat races both Saturday and Sunday to determine the overall winners. The event features hydroplanes about the size of the average front door, powered by modified outboard motors driven by racers kneeling in the cockpits and racing on an oval course. Despite rain at last year's inaugural event, competitors from seven states put on a great show and the turnout for this year is expected to be even better. The course used at Lake Jacksboro forces tight and close racing. The drivers will be in town Friday to test and tune their boats and will be available to talk to fans and media. Racing will begin at noon on both Saturday and Sunday.
